Registration Authority Agent for North London NHS Trust
£21K per annum

Our client, an NHS Trust based in West London, are looking for a Registration Authority Agent. The Registration Authority is an essential service underpinning the national Connecting for Health programme.

The job holder acts in a position of trust on behalf of the Executive of the Trust, with the responsibility to examine and validate the identity of people applying for registration. The jobholder will provide Smart Card and Registration services to clinicians, managers and staff in the NHS Trusts, surgeries, clinics, pharmacies and other providers throughout Islington, and will regularly work without supervision on a programme of site visits. The position requires the job holder to have full identity checks before appointment.

Duties include:

Provide an excellent quality of customer service to healthcare staff requiring Registration Authority services.
Ensure that registration appointments are completed successfully, or are suspended with negotiated actions agreed for the applicant to provide the required documents, or are aborted with clear reasons explained to the applicant and Sponsor.
Ensure Registration visits and appointments are planned, negotiating and if necessary rescheduling with staff and Sponsor managers.
Work with Medical and Senior Management sponsors to ensure they complete Registration application forms fully and accurately, explaining any refusal by the Registration Agent to accept a sponsor’s request
Validate personal identity evidence against Authentication Level 3 criteria, rejecting sub-standard applications, but assisting sponsors and staff to make correct applications
Ensure all Registration activity is in accordance with Registration Authority security processes, policy and rules, and where applicants have difficulty with their proof of identity; help them by negotiating to find acceptable proofs of identity within the regulations.
Make accurate computer records of registrations, including making photo images for identification purposes to Registration Authority standards
Maintain tidy, accurate and auditable document records of Smart cards issued and revoked, and ensure cards are issued to the correct member of staff.
Train users in the use of Smartcards and access to electronic patient records
Ensure all Registration activity is in accordance with Information Governance policy, Data Protection Act, and Caldicott requirements
Report and assist investigation of any data security infringements or incidents
Report work progress and problems, and carry out general administrative duties as required by the Registration Authority Manager
To attend meetings, and contribute to project teams as required to deliver effective and efficient Registration services
