Description
Our client, a leading trading company is currently seeking a Logistics Assistant to co-ordinatre day to day logistics activities involving third party suppliers, ensuring full on-time delivery through the most cost effective route possible.
Principle Accountabilities & Objectives
? Responsibility for coordination of all third party transporters
? Daily order entry for Retail Sales requirements
? Daily monitoring of deliveries and dealing with associated problems as they arise.
? Liaison with Sales, Warehouse and Purchasing Departments to ensure full product availability to our customers.
? Maintaining accurate delivery records and ensuring that correct costs are charged accordingly.
? Ensuring POD's are received in a timely manner and collating information from them to ensure what we have invoiced is correct.
? Monitoring service levels of each customer and providing information as necessary.
? Checking of invoices, dealing with disputes/discrepancies and obtaining credits.
Resource Management
? Monitor and control the use of resource in a cost effective manner.
? Propose recommendations for any reduction in expenditure e.g. transportation.
People/Personal Management
? Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with peers and work colleagues, both within the department and throughout the company.
? Operate to high moral and personal standards.
? Maintain personal discipline, attendance and morale.
Information Management
? Accurately record and store information.
? Contribute to discussions to solve problems and make decisions.
Job Content / Main Tasks
? Day to day coordination of the company's third party logistics providers, taking into consideration the requirements of all three Sales Departments within the company.
? Provide information to assist Sales and Purchasing functions, for them to ensure we provide full product availability to our customers. ? Ensure that the retail logistics operation is operated in a cost effective manner and that service requirements are met and maintained.
Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications
The jobholder should ideally have had a minimum of two years experience within the logistics environment, or within a similar admin role, preferably with exposure to third party solutions. Ideally he/she will have/be:
? Educated to GCSE level or above including Maths and English.
? Numerate, literate and have intermediate level of IT skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
? Strong organisation skills.
? Had experience working under pressure in an office environment.
? Ability to solve problems and work to exacting deadlines.
