Description

Our client a leading retailer is looking for a Buyer to look after Procurement of marketing services, as well as some other indirect services. The individual will help to support the Procurement Manager in determining the organisational design and strategic objectives going forward, whilst ensuring operational Procurement support, and will be responsible for:
? working with the business to deliver agreed benefits including cost reduction and cash flow targets for their category areas.
? influencing sourcing strategy in the category to support the business.
? delivering local sourcing needs in conjunction with or through the business area.
? managing and developing the business interface between Procurement and the business area
? supporting the development of the organisations Procurement initiatives.
? managing the development of the supply base with the respective business area, supporting the vision of the organisation being the 'customer of choice'.

Key responsibilities include:
1. Become category expert taking full ownership for the delivery of the category and financial plans. Exceed benefit delivery targets.
2. Continuously seek to improve Procurement practice in the category.
3. Meet unique local sourcing needs through the category team, ensuring that these are delivered in line with practice guidelines and policies. To include all sourcing to pay activities.
4. Develop and deliver a Category plan (project pipeline) to realise budget and business challenges-objectives. Manage category stakeholders. Joint accountability with business area to deliver their objectives as appropriate and agreed by Procurement Manager and business area.
5. Ensure that good practice sourcing expertise is brought to bear in all commercial relationships, be they Procurement, alliances, or the internal market (Procurement Specialist and internal provider).

The successful individual will be CIPS qualified or working towards it, and have knowledge of category specific industries, supply markets and related laws, employment law. You will ideally have a background within large, multi-cultural, complex blue-chip organisation with experience in managing and delivering high profile, multi-functional projects.
You will have a good understanding of the breadth and depth of procurement cycle activities. To include development of spend category plans, RFx, contract and commercial negotiation, developing appropriate SLA-KPI's documentation and trackers (to include delivered benefits). To have proven skills in the delivery of business goals, including service improvement, cost reduction and increased business profit, involving working alongside specialist and technical functions such as Legal, Health, Safety and Environmental. You will have well-developed communication and influencing skills, with a demonstrable capability to deliver through others and without direct authority. Experience with working with e-Procurement (Ariba) and e-Sourcing tools is essential.
