Senior Quantity Surveyor

Description

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's leading construction contractors as a Senior Quantity Surveyor.

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be expected to efficiently direct and manage the quantity surveying-commercial activities to meet the project objectives, including providing advice, guidance and support on such matters to the project team both during the pre-construction & construction phases. You will also be expected to provide independent commercial assurance to the Project Manager.
This role requires extensive experience in project quantity surveying and commercial management of the construction process. You will be required to ensure that these activities are planned, managed and monitored in a way that supports the project objectives and reflects "best practice"; this should include actions that contribute to maximising the return on capital and shareholder value.

The main duties of this position include:
- Providing a high quality technical - commercial service from pre-contract to final account.
- Adopting the use of best practice and the management system and commercial procedures.
- Understanding the contractual, commercial and legal processes relating to the project and ensure that these are properly communicated to the project team.
- Preparing and submitting where appropriate valuations and claims.
- Maintaining a high level of understanding of appropriate costs, codes, standards and specifications.
- Maintaining a high level of understanding of construction techniques, problems and solutions and work closely with technical staff to review and develop appropriate techniques and solutions for the project.
- Identifying and implementing the appropriate financial solutions to problems and produce the supporting documentation.
- To be highly competent in the application of I.T. to financial problems and the production of project documentation.
- To contribute to the production and ongoing analysis of project risks providing a high quality technical - commercial service from pre-contract to final account.
