Job Title: Facilities & Estates Manager
Responsible for: Security Team, Premises Team
Location: South Croydon, Surrey
Salary: £28k - £30k
Hours: 36 hours
Main Duties
To manage the maintenance, cleaning and general upkeep of buildings and grounds.
To be responsible for contractors on site ensuring they follow procedures.
Preparation and implementation of the internal and external planned maintenance programmes for college buildings and grounds.
Co-ordinating and implementing minor and major works programmes as required.
Arranging the letting of minor contract works within the guidelines of the budget.
Monitoring of premises contracts, including plant maintenance and cleaning; monitoring of contract performance.
Managing the security systems, site security generally and liaising with emergency services when necessary.
Co-ordinating and implementing the health and safety policy, including portable appliance testing. Advising the college on issues as appointed health and safety adviser to the Health and Safety Committee.
Assisting the Finance and Premises Manager with the compilation of the budgets and strategies.
Maximising the use of buildings and grounds by arranging their hire when not required for normal purposes; setting of hire charges, in conjunction with the Finance and Premises Manager.
Monitoring and control of the premises budget; provision of financial forecasts when required.
Managing the work of the premises and security staff.
To ensure the maintenance of vehicles.
To monitor all maintenance contracts to ensure all work is carried out during the year as specified in the contracts.
Skills and Experience required
Previous experience of facilities management
Previous experience of managing budgets
Expertise in security management
Experience of dealing with contractors
Good working knowledge of current building, health and safety and other relevant legislation
