Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's leading construction contractors as an M&E Cost Planner.

An M&E Cost Planner is required, with relevant experience in the preparation of the M&E elements of cost plans from feasibility through to detail design stage and in the vetting of subcontractor M&E tender submissions. Key activities will include measurement and pricing, and analysis of out turn costs. You will preferably have worked for either a main contractor or a subcontractor on projects of an overall value £10m ? 50m across a range of construction industry sectors. As the successful candidate you will need to demonstrate strong construction knowledge of M&E services, be skilled in the use of IT and have an understanding of the processes that drive a project from design to completion.

Duties to include the following:
- Preparation of the M&E components of cost plans using BCIS elemental split using analysed data from cost database and from information supplied by the supply chain
- Interrogate and prepare commentaries on the M&E sections of externally produced cost plans
- Vet M&E tender submissions
- Collect and analyse costs from current projects for inclusion in the cost database
- Prepare M&E benchmark data to set targets for future bids
- Interrogation of alternative approaches and ideas to provide competitive advantage
- Collaboration with all available in-house and external resources in preparation of the cost plan
- Identification of project risks and opportunity

It is essential to have gained a good level of experience in the services sector in the construction industry. As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of elemental costs of services installations and be experienced in negotiations with the supply chain. You will also have sufficient technical knowledge to propose alternative approaches to improve the likelihood of a successful bid.

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects across most industry sectors, including those of a high-value and more complicated- technical nature. Input would be needed at feasibility and tender stages, with further contact and feedback through the construction phase of won opportunities.
