Description
My client is a successful practice with a long history based in the West End. The firm has a number of practice areas including: Company & Commercial, Ecclesiastical & Charity, Real Estate and Private Client.
They are currently looking to recruit a Head Legal Cashier.
Responsibilities
Client and Office Account payments, receipts postings, journals, reconciliations and transfers, as well as processing, checking and posting of invoices, inception and archiving of matters.
Supervision of one cashier to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the cash room function, including compliance with SARs and VAT regulations, and training fee earners on time recording.
Credit control/WIP meetings in conjunction with the Practice Manager. Book-keeping subsidiary companies in multi-currencies. Liaison with Paris office.
Preparation of weekly and monthly statistics on time recorded, time charged, fees rendered & fees received; preparation of quarterly profit & loss account; preparation of annual accounts for the firm and the Faculty Office, and ensuring tax is reserved and paid on time.
Ad hoc advice to fee earners on VAT and billing issues. RPI uplift on the charging rates.
Purchase ledger, handling and reconciling petty cash, as well as any other ad hoc duties required by the Practice Manager.
Candidate Profile
You will have current Legal Cashiering experience in a City law firm, an in depth knowledge of SARs, as well as some experience of supervising a small team.
