Social Worker - Adults with Learning Disabilities

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS/ABILITIES


1. in communicating with people with learning disabilities both mild and severe
2. in assessing need and plan care being both imaginative and realistic
3. in assessing provider service competence
4. in maintaining professional boundaries in difficult situations
5. in negotiating with a wide variety of people.
6. in communicating verbally and in writing.
7. being able to work flexibly and to organise, prioritise and maintain a workload
8. to motivate yourself and work independently
9. to work in partnership with colleagues both internal and external
10. to work well under pressure.
11. to be a car driver.
12. Demonstrate appropriate understanding, knowledge and skills in valuing diversity


KNOWLEDGE

1. of relevant legislation related to adults and particularly learning disability
2. of disability issues
3. of budgets and how they work

EXPERIENCE

1. significant experience of working with people with a learning disability in community settings

QUALIFICATIONS

CQSW/CSS/Dipsw/RNMH/RMN or equivalent
For qualified Social Workers registration with the General Social Care Council (GSCC) is mandatory from 1 April 2005.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

A satisfactory Criminal Record Bureau disclosure is required.

MUST HAVE A SOCIAL WORKER QUALIFICATION AND AT LEAST 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE.
